There are four classical elements that are known to make up the world which are fire, earth, air, and water. Every person has an affinity to all of these elements, and the fifth element spirit, though there is usually an element that you work better with, and that you are more attuned to. This elemental attunement is connected to your physical, and etheric being through different energies that are brought into you through cosmic forces, and your higher spiritual being, along with the inherent energies of your lower bodies. By finding your element you will be able to understand more about yourself through the elemental associations, and how those elements choose to manifest in your being. By working more closely with that element in your magical practice you may find that through working with it, and its aspects your manifestation will go more smoothly, because of how balanced, and aligned you are with that elemental manifestation. Finding your element will also allow you to understand what element, and what elemental aspects you can focus more strongly on to balance out yourself more efficiently. Your element does not dictate anything you must do, or forms of magic that you must, or cannot practice, but instead may show you certain aspects of yourself that could also be used to improve your magickal practice. Your element can be found, or at least alluded to through various ways, but two of the most popular ways are meditation, and self-reflection, or through examining your zodiac signs, and natal chart. By using a multitude of methods you will be able to be a lot more certain that the element is in fact your element.

Examining your zodiac signs, and natal chart:

By looking at your zodiac signs on your natal chart you will be able to understand what element you maybe. Most of the time in this understanding the element a person is, will primarily be based off of what sun sign they are, though just like horoscopes told only from the sun sign this can be incredibly inaccurate for a lot of people. In order to make it more accurate you should take a look at all of the planets, and where they appear in your natal chart, in order for you to gain more insight into what element you are. Every zodiac sign has an element associated to it, and by seeing which element appears the most you will be able to determine your element, or at least allude to which element you could be.

  • Fire – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
  • Earth – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
  • Air – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
  • Water – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Meditation, and self-reflection:

By taking time, and meditating with each of the elements you will be able to feel into them and see which one resonates with you on a personal level. To do this all you would have to do is enter a meditative state, and invoke the energies of the element to you by simply calling out to them in your head, or out loud. This will allow the presence of that element to come to you during meditation, so that you can sit with it, and feel into it’s energies in order to see if it resonates with the core of your being. This feeling of resonating made manifest in many different ways though you will definitely know when you have come to feel something when interacting with an element. You could also go through the process of incorporating elements into your environment, or you could include elemental representations. You could go to places that envelop the energy of a specific elements such as a forest, or a beach, or could bring in the elements themselves like a bowl of water, a rock, or a candle to help you in your self-reflection, and meditation. Once you have spend some time on this you may be able to say which one you feel the most connected to, and that represents your being the best.

Earth people aspects: disciplined, grounded, and balanced.
